Monday Mayhem: Cookie-Making Chaos, Equipment Failures, and a Surprise Comeback!

At Fat and Weird Cookie, Mondays are always an adventure, but this one took the cake, literally. From unexpected equipment failures to a surprise office return, the day was filled with ups, downs, and, of course, delicious cookies. If you think your Monday was bad, wait until you hear what went down in our kitchen!

Technical Troubles and Cookie Chaos

The day kicked off with a major setback. Our machine just wouldn’t start. After swapping out a plug (thanks to Garrison, who wired it backward, no hard feelings!), the issue persisted. Even after troubleshooting with the manufacturer, nothing worked. That meant shifting back to our old machines, which aren’t as fancy but still get the job done. Hours behind schedule, thousands of cookies had yet to be made. Not exactly the smooth start we hoped for!

Despite the chaos, we still managed to squeeze in a morning content meeting. While you didn’t get to see that part, rest assured, the ideas were flowing. We also shot promo content for our February Lover’s Pack, which featured some of our most indulgent cookie flavors yet. Plus, Aubrey made her big return from maternity leave and wasted no time diving into the action, reviewing our Lover’s Pack flavors with us.

A Costly Equipment Breakdown

Just when we thought we had conquered the Monday madness, disaster struck again. Our HP20 dough depositor, a key part of our production process, suffered some serious wear and tear. The potential fix? A whopping $20,000 to $25,000. If you’ve ever wondered why gourmet cookies can be pricey, now you know.

Not everything was bad news, though. We’ve been working on exciting collaborations, including a potential co-branded product with Krispy Kreme. Imagine donuts and cookies coming together in one epic treat. We’re also expanding our packaging and branding efforts, meeting with graphic designers who specialize in consumer-packaged goods (CPG). While we’re proud of our DIY branding efforts, we’re always looking to level up.

Wrapping Up the Day

After a long, chaotic day, production finally wrapped up around 3:30 PM, way later than usual. But thanks to our old machines stepping up to the plate, we pulled through. As always, redundancy is key in the baking business.
