If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work at Fat and Weird Cookie, Wade Canard has the inside scoop. As one of the company’s most tenured employees, he’s seen it all. From working in every Fat and Weird location to witnessing the brand grow from a small operation to a full-scale cookie empire, Wade has plenty of stories to share. He even has a soft spot for the chaotic second location, despite its extreme heat.
The Sweet and Salty Sides of the Job
Wade loves the people, the structured environment, and the high-energy atmosphere. But it’s not all cookies and fun. One minute, he’s sweating next to an oven, and the next, he’s freezing in the subzero storage areas. Temperature extremes aside, he’s estimated that he’s eaten around 200 cookies since starting, which might just be the best perk of the job.
His cookie knowledge runs deep, and he’s seen some wild flavor experiments. The strangest? A spicy cayenne pepper chocolate cookie. Wade still dreams of bringing a jalapeño brownie cookie to life, proving he’s not afraid to take flavors to the next level. If Fat and Weird ever rebranded after him, he’d call it “Thick and Strange.”
Launch Day Madness and Rapid-Fire Fun
In the early days, cookie launches were unpredictable and often stretched workdays from 4 AM to 10 PM. The company had to expand freezer space and streamline production just to keep up with demand.
To cap things off, Wade answered a round of rapid-fire questions, tackling dilemmas like teleportation vs talking animals and whether he’d rather live in a treehouse or a cave. He even had to pick between battling one angry goose or five raccoons with attitude.
