At Fat and Weird Cookie, we’re always pushing boundaries when it comes to creating unique, mouthwatering cookies. This year has been phenomenal in terms of growth, but with great success comes new challenges. Today, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in our kitchen and how we tackle unexpected obstacles to keep delivering the best cookies possible!

The Challenge: Sealing Machine Breakdown

One of the biggest hurdles in our production process lately has been our flow wrapper sealing machine. As we’ve increased production by five times, sealing cookies quickly and efficiently has become crucial. When the machine went down, we had to revert to an old-school method—hand sealing each cookie. While this slowed us down, we were determined to keep the process running smoothly.

Solving the Problem: Enter Larry from Barrington Packaging Systems

Thankfully, we had Larry from Barrington Packaging Systems come in and get our flow wrapper back up and running. While it didn’t happen as quickly as we would’ve liked, his expertise helped us get back on track. Now, with everything dialed in, we’re sealing cookies at full speed again!

Another Unexpected Hurdle: Raw Cookie Dough Mix-up

Supply chain issues are another part of the food production game, and occasionally, we run into hiccups. This time, our supplier accidentally sent us raw, unbaked cookie dough pucks instead of what we needed. Sounds like a dream come true, right? Well, not quite! Since we incorporate baked cookie pieces into our dough, we had to first bake these pucks, let them cool, and process them properly before adding them into our signature cookie dough. Crisis averted!

Now that production is back in full swing, we’re excited to introduce this week’s favorite cookie: Snickerdaddy! This isn’t just any snickerdoodle—it’s a flavor explosion of cinnamon goodness.
